Electrical and electronic waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the UK, with approximately 2 million tones of electrical waste generated in every year. Plastic and metals are the two most common components of electrical items. Both these materials take a very long time to decompose and so will cause most harm and long term damage to the environment if they end up on landfill.
