Fluorescent Tube Collection Service
We now collect and recycle Fluorescent Tubes. Fluorescent Tubes as classed as hazardous waste and therefore need to be recycled by a specialist recycling company like Electro Collect. The cost is just £1 per tube (minimum order £19), or we can provide a box to safely store up to 80 tubes for £79. Once the box is full we will come and collect it and take it for recycling.

Why Recycle?
Research shows that there are more than 100 million fluorescent tubes used in the United Kingdon each year which produce in excess of 3,000 tonnes of waste material and until the Hazardous Waste Regulations came into force in 2005, it was ending up in landfill sites. Even though each lamp only contains a small amount of mercury the sheer volumn of waste means that large quantities of hazardous mercury could find their way into our land and water supplies.
Hazadous Waste!
Hazardous waste needs to be dealt with in a different way to other electrical waste because of the increased health and environmental risks. The mercury from only one fluorescent tube can contaminate up to 30,000 litres of water beyond a safe standard for drinking.
About the service
On confirmation of your order our Electro Collect team will deliver a Fluorescent Tube box to safely store your old bulbs. If you have a small number of tubes that you’d like to dispose of we can take them away at a cost of just £1 per tube (minimum order £19). However, if you are likely to have more old tubes for future collection we can leave the Tube Collection Box with you until you have filled it with 80 Tubes.
We take your old tubes for recycling and will provide the relevant hazadous collection paper work, which needs to be kept as proof of safe disposal and recycling.
All the fluorescent tubes and lamps we collect are sent to specialist recycling facilities where after safe disposal the raw materials are separated into glass, non ferrous metals and mercury phosphor powder.
We cannot collect or dispose of any broken fluorescent tubes.
